How to Open Mac Hard Drive in Windows PC – Free Tool

My friend brings a new external hard drive in MAC format ( HFS Format ), when I am trying to connect this hard disk to my Windows PC it is not detecting and I have searched to find a solution but landed with bunch of useless and unstable applications with a huge price tags. Then I decided to do a deep search and find the solution for this problem, after a 20 minutes of search I got the solution and it is absolutely FREE.

I thought some of you may also experience the same problem, so this is for you. This powerful yet tiny utility named as HFS Explorer, it is an open source application platform.

Use Mac formated Hard Drive in Windows PC :

After installing the HFS Explorer, just attach you Mac formated hard drive to the windows PC, that’s it now open the HFS Explorer it will do the rest of the work for you see this below screenshot…

  2. When i search for the harddrive in HFS it doesnt show up. But it´s detecting it as functional on the computer.

  3. Looks like a nice a tool. However I had some problems. When starting up on Windows 7, an error message states that “MSVCR711.dll” is missing. I have started to extract some files and when I came back my laptop went into sleep mode. When I switched it back on, I got some more error messages saying that certain files could not be extracted. They were also not readable. However after reinstalling it now seems to extract properly (so far so good).
